What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a filler that is used to add significant volume to the face in patients with sunken, hollow cheeks.* If you are familiar with Sculptra and you have received treatments in the past, request your appointment at Abbracci Med Spa in Redondo Beach today.
I’m not familiar with Sculptra; how does it work?
Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA is the main material used in absorbable sutures, the stitches that dissolve after surgery. It has been proven to be safe in humans as it easily dissolves and is flushed completely out of the system.* Sculptra also contains tiny amounts of powdered material that stimulate collagen production and eventually improve facial volume.* This treatment is recommended to people who need large amounts of filler to add significant volume to their sunken cheeks.* It is only used when standard fillers cannot get the job done.

What can I expect during treatments?
During your one-one-one consultation with a specialist at Abbracci Med Spa, it will be determined if Sculptra is needed. If this filler is right for you, the procedure will be scheduled out. During treatments, multiple injections are made into the predetermined targeted area. A local anesthetic may be used to help maximize your comfort levels.* You will be able to go home after the procedure and the downtime is limited.* The treated areas may need to be massaged in order to even out the filler.*
What can I expect from the results?
The results are not immediate and generally take several months to appear.* This is especially true if you are older and are experiencing significant volume loss.* After 9 months or so, the full results are expected to show.* In the time between that point, you will observe changes to the contour of your face.* Desired outcomes are seen when the body interacts with the filler and develops new collagen.* With gradual results, many patients note that their friends and family aren’t able to tell that they’ve had work done.*
Sculptra is known to last for a couple of years, once the series of treatments have been completed.* So while it is a bit more costly than hyaluronic acid fillers, the results generally last much longer.*
