This month, we’re dialing it back to Laser Hair Removal, and because we spend way less time in the sun, January is the perfect time to get started on this procedure or come in for a touch-up.

Everyone loves smooth skin! The most popular methods of hair removal are either shaving, waxing or using a chemical depilatory. But then you have to start all over again when the hair begins to regrow a couple of days later (sooner for some of us!). One solution to the hair war is Laser Hair Removal.

Lumenis High-Speed LightSheer Duet System

At Abbracci Med Spa, we use the High-Speed LightSheer Duet system, by Lumenis, which is a laser that produces a large beam of highly concentrated light. We do this with two handpiece apparatuses that we have available: the LightSheer High-Speed handpiece uses vacuum-assisted technology, with laser light, to allow for rapid and comfortable treatments of large areas (i.e. back, chest & legs). The LightSheer ET handpiece is perfect for smaller areas (i.e. face, bikini, underarms).

How it works

Because our hair grows in different phases and is not at the same growth stage at the same time, laser hair removal requires multiple treatments to be effective. Also, since the laser targets melanin, the pigment that gives us our skin and hair color, people with darker hair have more success with this treatment than people with lighter hair.

As always, treatment varies from patient to patient, so some people may require more treatments than others for full hair removal of an area. Our staff will work with you to create a hair removal plan that will work for you. And while laser hair removal will permanently reduce body hair, it may not permanently remove all the body hair. Periodic follow up treatments may be necessary a couple of times a year, that’s why our special pricing twice a year is such a good deal.

Side Effects

Side effects are minor and rare, and may include redness and swelling around the hair follicle, but they do subside quickly and no downtime is needed. Depending on the body part, such as areas with thinner skin, some pain may occur, but we can apply a numbing cream to help alleviate any discomfort. As with our IPL treatment , since this is a laser treatment, the procedure is performed by a registered nurse or nurse practitioner that is on our staff.

January Special Pricing

This month, we are offering our Laser Hair Removal special in packages of 3, and they must be purchased in these packages. The reason we sell this treatment in packages of 3 is because, if you’re just getting started with Laser Hair Removal, it will take at least 3 sessions to remove the hair from the follicle. After that, you may need periodic touch-ups to keep the area hair free. Once a package is purchased, you have 1 year to use all three treatments, so it works well if you’re just starting, or for needed touch ups through the year. Multiple packages may be purchased at the same time.
