Restorative Vitamin C Facial

To celebrate Spring, and all things sunny & warm, we are offering our Restorative Vitamin C Facial this month. This facial incorporates Vitamin C and glycolic acid, together with enzymes and peptides that promote cellular turnover, which helps to brighten, lighten and tighten the skin.

This treatment is perfect for all skin types, but is especially helpful for aging skin, as well those who are looking to prevent future skin lines and signs of aging.

Of course, we are always telling our clients that the best way to deter skin aging is to start every single day with a generous application of sunscreen in the morning before you apply make-up. The sun’s rays play a crucial role in premature and early signs of skin aging; it slows down natural collagen and elastin production which are two compounds that help your skin retain its natural plumpness.

Our Restorative Vitamin C Facial uses glycolic acid and vitamin c, both of which have mechanisms for providing skin protection, and the combination of the two provides potent anti-aging benefits. Glycolic acid works like an exfoliator on the skin’s surface by helping to dissolve dead skin cells, which then kicks collagen production into high gear.

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant, which can help protect your skin from sun damage and other atmospheric pollutants in our environment. Vitamin C products also help promote proper hydration, and as you know, dehydrated skin is more likely to show fine lines and wrinkles.

When Vitamin C & Glycolic Acid are used together, glycolic acid will exfoliate the dead cells on the top layer of the epidermis, so the Vitamin C can hydrate and protect the newer skin underneath. Together, they also help your skin appear younger and protect it against future damage. This is the perfect skin treatment as we enter summer and will be spending more time outdoors in the sunshine!

Injectable Specials for April

Jeuveau

It’s been a while since we offered a special on Jeuveau. Jeuveau is the newer (FDA-approved) neurotoxin that has been on the market for a couple of years. Many people refer to it as “NewTox”. It is specifically intended to be injected into the glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows) and works to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines.

Like Botox, Jeuveau is a highly purified form of botulinum toxin A, as well as the same molecular size & weight. Jeuveau is also manufactured with a proprietary Hi-Pure Technology, a different purification and drying process which is believed to help the products’ longevity.

Jeuveau works by preventing the nerves in the forehead from allowing the muscles to flex. In clinical trials, Jeuveau was shown to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines. In 2 long-term safety studies, patients received an average of 3 treatments over the course of one year.

Why would you choose Jeuveau over Botox?

Over time we notice that some of our patients have become resistant to Botox, and may have to use more product to achieve the results they desire. When this happens, we sometimes try switching to Dysport or Xeomin. What we like about Jeuveau is that it contains the same molecular composition as Botox, 900 kDa molecule, which has become the gold standard.

As with Botox and Dysport, there is no downtime with Jeuveau and results are typically seen within 4-7 days, and lasting 3-4 months.

These are our most popular and cutting-edge fillers for a little pre-summer tune-up! They are all formulated with hyaluronic acid, which our bodies make naturally but diminish as we age. This is what causes the gradual sagging of our skin.

How do you know which one is right for you? Here’s a refresher (but we’re always available to help you decide!)

 Juvéderm Voluma is a dermal filler that adds volume to the cheek area and treats age-related volume loss in the face to help create a more youthful appearance. The results are known to last for a couple of years and you will only need touch-up treatments if you want to maintain your youthful contours.

Juvéderm Voluma is $895 per syringe.

Juvéderm Volbella XC is a lip augmentation treatment that plumps the lips, minimizes the appearance of vertical lines around the mouth, and is actually the first lip filler that specifically addresses vertical lip lines as we age. It also has a smaller particle size, which allows for a subtle plump in the injected area for a more natural look. This formula also includes a small amount of lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic designed to reduce pain at the injection site, and it has been proven to last for at least one year.

Juvéderm Volbella XC is $495 per syringe.

Juvéderm Vollure XC is designed to smooth parenthesis lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. While it’s good to use creams and serums daily to address these areas, they are topical and can only help the top layers of the dermis. Juvéderm Vollure XC goes deeper and adds volume to the area to smooth the lines and folds, resulting in subtle, longer-lasting results. In fact, Juvéderm Vollure XC has been proven to last up to 18 months, which is fantastic because most other fillers only last about a year!

Juvéderm Vollure XC is $695 per syringe.

How does it work?

The original formulas, Juvéderm Ultra XC & Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC, both use a cross-linking technology known as Hylacross. The hyaluronic acid used in fillers varies in concentration, this is what makes it work to plump up the skin. The way it does that is through the process of cross-linking – making a connection between the hyaluronic acid compounds (#sciencestuff).

Juvéderm Vollure XC & Juvéderm Vobella XC use a new kind of dermal technology known as Vycross, which holds the hyaluronic acid together in a stable gel that stays intact after injection, is firm enough to fill the area, but soft enough that it moves with the facial expressions. Both products contain lidocaine to help with the pain.

Juvéderm Ultra XC & Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC are also being offered this month. These two dermal fillers are specifically for the lower facial area, including the parentheses (smile) lines, marionette lines, vertical lip lines, and they can also be used to plump thinning lips.

Both these formulas are thicker, gel-based, and contain hyaluronic acid. They also both contain lidocaine, an anesthetic agent mentioned above, that helps numb the area and alleviate pain at the injection site.

What we love about both Juvéderm Ultra XC & Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC is that they both add immediate volume, and restore a smoother, natural appearance. One treatment is usually all that is necessary, and results typically last up to one year.

Some things to keep in mind if you are scheduling an injectable treatment:

• Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen & fish oil supplements for 2 weeks prior to injection. This helps decrease bleeding & bruising at the site
• There is minimal recovery after treatment, and you should see an immediate improvement
• One treatment is all that is usually necessary to smooth lines, wrinkles and add volume to lips
• Results typically last up to one year
