First up: Botox is a simple treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, and forehead. Results can be seen within 5 days and usually last 3-4 months, depending on the individual.

Juvederm Voluma XC is the thickest of the formulas and is actually a gel that is injected into the cheek area to lift and add volume lost due to aging. It is specifically designed to fill and lift the midface and cheek area, and can also smooth moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is hyaluronic acid-based (hyaluronic acid is naturally made by our bodies, but diminishes as we age. This is what causes the gradual sagging of our skin). The hyaluronic acid used in fillers varies in concentration, this is what makes it work to plump up the skin. The way it does that is through the process of cross-linking – making a connection between the hyaluronic acid compounds.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is specifically designed for the lower facial area, including the parentheses (smile) lines, marionette lines, vertical lip lines and it can also be used to plump thinning lips.

The formula is thicker, gel-based and contains hyaluronic acid. It also contains lidocaine, an anesthetic agent, that helps numb the area and alleviate pain at the injection site.

What we love about Juvederm Ultra Plus XC is that it adds immediate volume, and restores a smoother, natural appearance. One treatment is usually all that is necessary, and results typically last up to one year.

Juvederm Volbella XC is formulated with hyaluronic acid (which our bodies make naturally), and is a lip augmentation treatment that plumps the lips, minimizes the appearance of vertical lines around the mouth and is actually the first lip filler that specifically addresses vertical lip lines as we age. It also has a small amount of lidocaine, which reduces pain at the injection site. The smaller particle size allows for a subtle plump in the injected area for a more natural look. The best part is that it has been proven to last for at least one year.

Some things to keep in mind if you are scheduling an injectable treatment:

• Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen & fish oil supplements for 2 weeks prior to injection. This helps decrease bleeding & bruising at the site
• There is minimal recovery after treatment, and you should see an immediate improvement
• One Juvederm treatment is all that is usually necessary to smooth lines, wrinkles and add volume to lips
• Juvederm results typically last up to one year
