The Wonderful World of Fillers
If you’re beginning to notice fine lines in your eye area, deep folds around your mouth and hollow cheeks,
If you’re beginning to notice fine lines in your eye area, deep folds around your mouth and hollow cheeks, there’s a good chance your skin has begun to lose facial volume due to decreased collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. This is due to several factors, including age, skin type, heredity, environmental factors or bad habits.
For some background: Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found on our skin. As we age, we start to lose hyaluronic acid, which then causes the skin to lose structure and volume, contributing to the formation of wrinkles and skin folds. Many of the dermal fillers on the market use hyaluronic acid to add this substance back into the skin, which temporarily increases facial volume in the areas where it has been lost.
At Abbracci Med Spa, we offer several dermal fillers, which are a safe and effective way to turn back time, smooth wrinkles and bring back fullness and facial volume.* If you’ve wondered about the different types of fillers available, we’ve broken it down for you so you could educate yourself on what’s available. You are also welcome to call us and consult with one of our medical directors, or nurse practitioner, who can help advise you on the best way to proceed.
BOTOX
The most widely known treatment is Botox. Released in 2002, it became the first product to receive FDA approval for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines.* Botox is an injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes the muscles surrounding the area in which it is administered.* For crow’s feet, this is the orbicularis oculi, the muscle surrounding the sides of your eyes. For frown lines (between & above your eyebrows), this is the corrugator and procerus muscles.
The procedure takes approximately 10 minutes and requires very minimal recovery. In fact, many patients have this procedure done during their lunchtime and go back to work! When properly administered, you should not lose the ability to show expression and side effects are rare, but may include inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness and/or bleeding or bruising.*
Belotero
Belotero is an injectable gel that can temporarily smooth out and fill in lines and wrinkles that form in the lip line, and tear troughs (the under-eye area).* Belotero evenly and completely blends into the skin, and provides a natural, finished look by integrating with your skin’s tissue.*
*Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
Once injected, it feels natural to the touch and allows you to maintain normal movement and facial expression.* It works by filling in the small gaps beneath your skin’s surface, smoothing moderate-to-severe etched-in lines, wrinkles and folds.* You will notice results the same day, and there is little to no downtime.*
Side effects may include inflammation at the injection site, and it is recommended that you avoid strenuous activity, sun or heat exposure, alcoholic beverages, fish oil and aspirin for 24 hours after the procedure. Results last 6 months or longer.
Juvederm
We offer several different Juvederm products, for different applications.
*Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
Juvederm XC is a filler that is injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles & folds occur, to temporarily add volume to the skin.* This may give the appearance of a smoother skin surface.* Juvederm XC is used to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds in the lip line, lip corner lines, and marionette & parentheses lines that appear around the nose and mouth.*
*Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
As we age, our cheeks lose volume and the skin begins to sag. Juvederm Voluma XC is an injectable gel that contains a modified hyaluronic acid that can instantly add volume to the cheek area by creating contour and lift.* It is injected under the skin using a fine needle and can last for a couple of years.*
Both Juvederm XC and Juvederm Voluma XC contain lidocaine, an anesthetic that reduces discomfort & pain at the injection site.
Radiesse
Radiesse is a filler that temporarily adds volume to help smooth facial wrinkles and folds in the nasolabial folds (the area from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth).*
*Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
When injected into the area, Radiesse works to stimulate the body to produce collagen naturally over time.* Eventually, the body absorbs the product and leaves behind the natural collagen for results lasting up to one year.*
*Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
